Eisrisenvelt

A thirty minute ride from Salzburg you will find the Eisrisenvelt. The largest ice cave in the world. It is well worth at least a half day visit to this amazing ice place.

For those of you who enjoy hill/mountain walking, you can use the cave as a final destination, taking the day to walk in the beautiful hills of Austria. Those of you who want a shorter walk can take a mini bus or taxi from Werfen the nearest small town. Beware however that you need to pronounce the name exactly right. We emphasised 'Eis' getting it to sound like 'ice' rather than 'Eis' and ended up in a taxi taking us to the next village. Luckily the taxi driver thought us the funniest tourists in a while and did not charge to take us to the correct place!
